Individual Private Lessons
|
The senior training course teachers all give private tuition in the Technique and
run busy private teaching practices at the Centre. They are all former Council members of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique with a wealth of teaching experience.
To arrange private lessons contact the Centre.

If you want fully to understand this work and its potential, you must get the practical experience
of lessons. There is no substitute.
There are many descriptions and definitions of the Alexander Technique available on the
internet,
in books and elsewhere, and as interesting as these may be, they are just words. Get the practical
experience from a suitably qualified teacher.

The Alexander Technique has been erroneously described as a method of relaxation or a form of
posture training; but its scope and purpose lie far beyond the "release of tension", or even
"the re-education of muscular movement" for it is essentially a method of "self-help" so that all
the potentialities of mind and body may be used to their best advantage in the activities of living.

This becomes a possibility by learning how to avoid interference with the functioning of the
postural mechanism - a mechanism upon which all other functioning of the human organism ultimately
depends. It is a process of learning how to control our habitual reactions; and learning this
control of human reaction is what Alexander Technique teachers try to teach.

|
The Alexander Technique is concerned with the art of living, with the enjoyment of life, with good health, well-being and happiness.
If living is an art, then successful living depends upon technique.
