The Hive was born out of months of creative planning to become the new home of fine art, creative engineering and design, sculpture, photography, art history and fashion textiles in Headington.

“We already know how much employers value analytical thinking, innovation, creativity and originality. These differentiate the good candidates from the excellent ones. In the future, maybe these are the things that make a human ‘worth’ to be employed over a robot, ”Jordan wrote in Relocate the world.

Students explored artificial intelligence, machine learning, and art, working with the world’s first ultra-realistic AI artist, Ai-Da. They applied machine learning concepts to games, reflected on lessons from Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel “Frankenstein,” studied the musical composition of AI, and looked at the ethics of AI. By examining what it is like to be human, they develop crucial creative thinking skills.

A girl-only environment for best results

Isla Henderson, who received her bachelor’s degree in 2021, will study computer science with video game engineering at Newcastle University. Her goal is to become CEO of her own video game company and promote women in tech.

“This school is very promotional for women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and other male-dominated subjects,” Henderson shares. “I attributed my passion for this career to a video game project we did in grade 9 where we had to create a video game.
