WASHINGTON, February 10 — The Inter-American Development Bank issued the following press release:

the Inter-American Development Bank (“IDB” or “IADB”), rated Aaa/AAA (Moody’s/S&P), has priced a new 1.5-year Australian dollar fixed-rate bond under the Education, Youth and Employment (“EYE”) bond program . Taiju Life Insurance Company is the sole investor in the bond with Daiwa Capital Markets America Inc. being the arranger.

This is the IDB’s first ‘EYE’ private bond placement in Australian dollars to a Japanese institutional investor, Taiju Life Insurance Company. The proceeds will be used to finance eligible IDB project loans under the criteria of the EYE Bond program. The projects of this program, in place since 2014, aim to promote sustainable growth, poverty reduction and social equity in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The IDB has a “life cycle” approach to building human capital, from early childhood care and education, to formal primary and secondary education, as well as programs that facilitate market placement of work by improving the school-to-work transition through vocational training.

Thus, the IDB helps Latin America and the Caribbean countries to increase productivity and improve the social inclusion of young people at all key stages of the intervention.
