Money goes back to school


Tuesday, October 5, 2021 – Rosanne Cash is back to school.

Cash is the first American artist in residence at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University.

Throughout the current 2021-22 academic year, Cash will participate through lectures, workshops and classroom visits. This includes a three-day lyric workshop that will feature the school‘s songwriting students developing and working on their original material with guidance from Cash.

Other upcoming events include the Ralph S. Peer Lecture: “Matriarchs: Sara and Maybelle Carter and Sister Rosetta Tharpe” Cash and Peter Guralnick (“Sweet Soul Music: Rhythm & Blues and the Southern Dream of Freedom”; “Last Train to Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley “)) will discuss the life, times and music of three women who have been and continue to be a major influence on popular music and its culture.

In “Americana Today: Songs in the Round”, Cash will organize and host this concert that explores the heart and frontiers of American music. Catherine Russell, Josh Ritter and a NYU student Steinhardt will join Cash to perform songs of their own creation.
