UP: Teacher assaulted by students for asking them not to use cell phones in class

Gorakhpur: A teacher at a public school in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh was reportedly beaten by students after he told them not to use cell phones inside the classroom. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera.

The victim was identified as Sayyad Wasiq Ali, a computer teacher at a public school in the city of Gorakhpur. A class 9 student, along with two other students, covered Wasiq’s face with a black cloth and assaulted him after he told them to stop using a cell phone.

1 accused arrested, sent to a home for minors

Based on a written complaint submitted by Wasiq, a case was filed against a named student and two unidentified students. The named accused has been detained. He was later sent to a juvenile home. He was banned from school, according to a report by Times of India.

“Some students beat the computer teacher when he asked them to stop using cell phones in class on Wednesday. This act will not be taken lightly. The accused student has been banned and after identifying the other two students, action will also be taken against them, ”the report quoted the principal as saying.

Meanwhile, a police officer said the defendants were convicted of attempted murder. The named accused has been sent to a juvenile home while efforts are made to identify and apprehend the other two accused, the officer added.

Another incident

In another incident, a woman was allegedly assaulted by her husband at their home in Vadodara, Gujarat, after she argued with him over “likes” on his social media posts. The case arose after the woman in question called the Abhayam helpline.

The woman in question grew jealous after noticing that her husband’s social media posts were collecting “likes” from women within minutes of being downloaded. On October 22, she snatched her cell phone from him, sparking an argument. Her husband allegedly beat her, after which she called the Abhayam helpline.
