LUCKNOW: A teacher at a public elementary school shot dead his ex-girlfriend’s husband in Madiaon with his assistant. The crime surfaced when police recovered Ashutosh Singh’s body from the service road of the IIM Road in the area on Tuesday afternoon.
Those arrested have been identified as being the wife of the deceased, Preeti Singh, his lover Hemendra Pratap Yadav and their assistant Sunil Kumar. Hemendra and Sunil are teachers at a public primary school in Etawah. Preeti is also a government teacher at a primary school in Sandila in Hardoi. She met Hemendra while they were both teaching at a school in Auras, Unnao, in 2018, police said.
“In January 2021, Hemendra was transferred to Etawah. In July 2021, Preeti was married to Ashutosh Singh from Hardoi who worked as a PRO at a diagnostic center in Lucknow. Ashutosh was staying with his brothers Rajesh and Anupam in a house in Maharshi Nagar and disappeared around 7 pm on August 23, ”ADCP North Prachi Singh said.
On August 24, Ashutosh’s body was found with gunshot wounds. “We also recovered a damaged car nearby and found that its owner had called the deceased,” Singh said.
Owner Hemendra’s cell phone number was in the appeal book of the deceased and his wife Preeti, the officer added.
“Preeti broke down after being interrogated and took the names of Hemendra and Sunil who were arrested,” Singh said.
During questioning, Hemendra revealed that he was in love with Preeti but that she was married to Ashutosh. “Preeti was not happy with Ashutosh and shared her dissatisfaction with her fellow teacher Sunil who shared the details with me,” Hemendra said.
Hemendra and Sunil made a plan and called Ashutosh on August 23 under the pretext of a trade deal and took him to the IIM road where they shot him in the head and fled.
However, Hemendra was unlucky when his car hit a road divider and he had to abandon it on the spot.
